Finding the Slope of a Graph at Any Given 'x' Value

I. First enter the equation of the graph into "y1" and graph it. Let's use y = x3 - 2x + 5 as an example

II. Follow the key strokes to find the slope at any given 'x' value. For example, let's find the slope of the curve when x = 2.
  1. "2nd"
  2. "trace"
  3. "6"

  4. After hitting "enter" at "6" or just hitting "6" itself, a screen similar to the one below will appear.

We want the slope when x = 2. Just hit the #2 key on the calculator.

  5. Hit "enter".

The slope of the curve when x = 2 is equal to 10.
